Hello Parents.
Due to some rule changes this past winter, all Little League parks are allowed to form Select travel teams to play games and tournaments throughout the 2015 baseball season. Lakehill is very interested in participating in this new opportunity, along with Layritz and Beacon Hill. In fact, arrangements have already been made to host New Westminister Little League on April 19th and the lower mainland and up island are also in the works.
All we need now is a team. We are interested in establishing a pool of about 20 players which we will rotate through for all our games. Please note that a lot of time and effort has been expended to organize these games. As such, selection to the team means a strong commitment from both the players and parents. There will be some financial commitments as well, but rest assured this will not be a limiting factor. There are mechanisms available.
If you and your player are interested in trying out for the team or just wanting more information, we are going to have a meeting onTuesday, April 7th at 7:15 at the clubhouse.
Selection for the team will be made by the Majors coaches based upon a try-out as well as experience with the players. Coaches will rotate through the position of Manager with the other coaches assisting.
We look forward to see you on Tuesday.
Sincerely
Lyle Fairley
VP Baseball
To have games we must have umpires. Umpires receive training, support and encouragement, and make some spending money. We welcome back our returning umpires and NEED NEW UMPIRES. Even parents can be umpires. If you are interested in becoming an umpire, please email tammyaustin@shaw.ca.
Once the registration deadline is passed, the Executive will create teams and identify coaches and managers. For the most part, you can assume the following schedule, based on previous years:

In April, 2014 the International Congress approved the new league age determination amendment for Little League Baseball. The results were that effective immediately, any player born on or after January 1, 2006 who will turn the ages of 4-9 during the 2015 calendar year will be eligible to participate in a local Little League program and will use the new age determination date of December 31 for the reminder of their Little League Baseball career.
Consequently, players born prior to January 1, 2006 will continue to utilize the current age determination date of April 30 for the remainder of their Little League career.
Little League has an age calculator to help you.
The ages by Division for Little League are as follows:
Challenger League Ages 3-16
Mini T- Ball League Ages 3 -4
T-Ball League Ages 5 -6
Mini-Minors League Ages 7-8
Rookie Minors League Ages 8-10
